On Wednesday, October 7th members of the the violent antifa cell, Smash Racism DC, descended on the home of Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. While covering their faces with black ski masks, these extremists chanted “Tucker Carlson, we will fight. We know where you sleep at night.” They allegedly rang his doorbell, broke his oak door and one of them was apparently caught on security video mentioning a pipe bomb.
This is the same antifa cell that in September confronted Senator Ted Cruz and his family and threatened them. They later issued a threat from their now deleted Twitter account in which they said they wanted to make sure Donald Trump, Bret Kavanaugh, and other “right-wing scum” know that they “are not safe”. This tweet and their account was reported for violating Twitter’s TOS immediately after this happened but Twitter chose not to take any action against the account.
Twitter is systematically censoring conservatives.
Meanwhile, multiple people have reported @SmashRacismDC for their credible threats against @TedCruz, @RealDonaldTrump, and others but their account with over 9K followers is STILL active. Why is that?

Many left-wing media personalities like CNN’s Brian Stelter repudiated this act of terrorism but Vox co-founder, Matthew Yglesias had a different perspective (archived version):
I think the idea behind terrorizing his family, like it or not as a strategy, is to make them feel some of the fear that the victims of MAGA-inspired violence feel thanks to the non-stop racial incitement coming from Tucker, Trump, etc. https://t.co/hmBTBtcTBM

When someone asked Matthew for clarification, he doubled down stating that he can not empathize with Susie Carlson, Tucker’s wife.
I honestly cannot empathize with Tucker Carlson’s wife at all — I agree that protesting at her house was tactically unwise and shouldn’t be done — but I am utterly unable to identify with her plight on any level. https://t.co/1YRAY8DuWC

Matthew, like many left-wing journalists and activist see political violence as justified so long as the recipients of that violence are believed to be “fascists”, “Nazi”, “bigot”, “racists”, etc. Unfortunately, members of the media and institutions like the SPLC and ADL play fast and loose with those terms, and it looks like their rhetoric has consequences.
